OUR LITTLE FIGHTER
The Kyle Wood Foundation was created in 2002 after our son Kyle passed away from Leukemia with a Philadelphia chromosome on Feb. 5th 2000. Kyle was only 6 years old when he died. Battling cancer is one of the most difficult and scariest times a family can endure. Moreover, it is an even harder time during the holidays. The foundation is run by Kyle’s parents and brother; Roger, Beth, and Jake. It is also comprised of Kyle’s aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, closest friends and volunteers. After experiencing what cancer does to a family, The Kyle Wood Foundation has been dedicated to supporting the children and families in any way we can. We are here to help and to tell you that hope is stronger than fear!
While Kyle was being treated at the Children’s Hospital, he saw a child across from his room who was all alone because his family was unable to be with him. It was very important to Kyle that he had a pie on Thanksgiving. So Kyle and his mom (Beth) brought a pie over to him for something to enjoy during the holidays. This has been our inspiration to ensure the children and families have a pie at the Children’s Hospital and why we provide full Thanksgiving meals to those at Brent’s Place. – Wood Family
Last year The Cake Company was able to donate 100 pies and 100 cookie treat bags to The Kyle Wood Foundation thanks to the wonderful Castle Rock Community! Help us reach this goal again this year and donate!
